Responsible Gambling

Matched betting is a mathematical technique — but it uses regulated gambling products. Please read this page before using any betting offer we list. Last updated: 23 July 2026.

18+ | Please gamble responsibly. All matched-betting and bookmaker content on this site is strictly for over-18s. Only take part if you can afford to lose the money you stake.

1. Matched betting is not gambling-free

Matched betting works by placing offsetting bets to lock in the value of a bookmaker sign-up offer. Done exactly to the guide it is very low variance, but it is not risk-free. Human errors, missed bets, restricted accounts, changed terms, casino wagering variance and stake sizing mistakes can all cost money. Every user of every matched-betting guide on this site takes full responsibility for their own bets.

2. Risks you need to accept before you start

  • You can lose money on any single offer if you make a mistake.
  • Casino and slot offers involve variance — expected value assumes you complete many similar offers.
  • Bookmakers can (and do) close, restrict or "gubb" accounts without warning, keeping any pending qualifying stakes tied up.
  • Bonuses, terms and free-bet mechanics change frequently — always re-read the offer's own T&Cs before you place a bet.
  • Some products (particularly in-play casino) are designed to encourage habit-forming play. Stop if you feel any pull to bet outside the strategy.

3. Never chase losses

If a matched-betting offer goes wrong — a stake voided, a bookmaker refuses to pay, or a casino run goes against you — walk away, work out what happened, and only come back once you're calm. Never place bets outside the strategy to "make it back". That is not matched betting; that is gambling to chase losses, and it is the single fastest way to lose serious money.

4. Warning signs

  • Placing bets outside a matched-betting strategy because they "feel right".
  • Chasing losses after variance in casino offers.
  • Betting money you'd need for essentials.
  • Hiding your betting activity from people close to you.
  • Betting to escape stress or low mood.
  • Feeling irritable or anxious when you can't place a bet.

If any of these apply, stop and seek support using the resources below. If you're worried about someone else, the same organisations can help.
