Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 July 2026. Written for UK visitors under UK GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR.
Side Hustle Savings ("we", "us", "our") is an independent UK-focused website that publishes information about bank switch offers, referral bonuses, cashback deals, investing promotions, matched betting and side hustles. This notice explains what personal data we collect when you use sidehustlesavings.co.uk, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice. If you need a legal opinion on how UK data protection law applies to your situation, please speak to a UK-qualified solicitor.
1. Data controller
The data controller responsible for personal data collected through this website is:
Only the operator's first name is displayed publicly. The operator's full legal name will be provided to data subjects, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or any other UK regulator on written request where legally required.
2. What personal data we collect and why
We only collect the data we actually need to run the website and reply to you. In practice that means:
a) Contact form
- Name — so we can address you personally in our reply.
- Email address — so we can reply.
- Subject and message content you submit.
Purpose: to respond to your enquiry. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in running a responsive website and answering the people who contact us.
b) Newsletter signup
- Email address (required).
- First name (optional).
- Confirmation that you ticked the consent box and the time you subscribed.
- A "placement" tag recording which form on our site you used (e.g. "homepage" or "footer").
Purpose: to send the weekly newsletter you asked for. Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and PECR Regulation 22). You can withdraw consent at any time — see section 8.
c) Recommend an Offer form
- Your name and email (both optional — provided only if you want a reply).
- Details of the offer you are recommending (company, URL, reward, notes).
Purpose: to review your suggestion and, where appropriate, add the offer to the site. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in improving our content.
d) Report an Issue / Report an Expired Offer
- Your name and email (both optional).
- The page or offer, the type of issue, and your description of the problem.
Purpose: to investigate and fix the reported issue. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in keeping the site accurate.
e) Technical data
When you visit any website, your browser sends basic technical information such as your IP address, user-agent string and the page you requested. Our hosting provider processes this automatically to serve the page and protect the site from abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in the security and reliable operation of the site.
We do not ask for and do not want your date of birth, home address, phone number, bank details, National Insurance number, payment details or any special category data (health, ethnicity, political views etc.). Please do not send these to us.
3. Cookies, analytics and affiliate tracking
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and browser storage entries only. At the time of this update we do not run any third-party web analytics, advertising cookies or social media pixels. Affiliate tracking cookies, when they exist, are set by the third-party provider after you click through to their site — they are not set by us. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
4. Who we share your data with (processors)
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for advertising. We only pass it to the specific processors we need to run the site:
- Resend (Resend, Inc., United States) — email delivery. When you submit any form on the site, the message is transmitted through Resend to our inbox. When you subscribe to the newsletter, Resend also delivers your welcome email. Resend processes your email address and the message content. Privacy policy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Beehiiv (Beehiiv, Inc., United States) — newsletter platform. Your email address (and first name, if you provided one) is added to our Beehiiv audience so we can send you the weekly newsletter. Beehiiv also handles unsubscribes and stores the subscriber list. Privacy policy: beehiiv.com/legal/privacy.
- IONOS (IONOS SE, Germany) — our domain registrar and DNS provider for sidehustlesavings.co.uk. IONOS does not receive form or subscriber data; it processes DNS queries needed to reach the site. Privacy policy: ionos.co.uk/terms-gtc/privacy-policy.
- Our website host serves the pages of this site and processes standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and reliability.
Web analytics: none currently in use. If we add a privacy-friendly analytics tool in future (for example Plausible or Fathom), this section and the Cookie Policy will be updated first, and any non-essential cookies will be blocked until you give consent through the cookie banner.
5. International transfers
Resend and Beehiiv are based in the United States. Transfers of personal data outside the UK take place under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses that these providers publish, together with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards. You can request a summary of the safeguards by emailing us.
6. Retention periods
- Contact, recommend and report messages: kept in our inbox for up to 24 months from your last contact, then deleted or archived. Sooner on request.
- Newsletter subscribers: retained in Beehiiv until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, Beehiiv retains a minimal suppression record (typically an email hash) so we do not accidentally email you again — this is required to honour your unsubscribe.
- Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a short technical period (typically no more than 30 days) unless needed to investigate abuse or security incidents.
- Consent records (the fact you ticked the newsletter consent box, and when): kept for as long as you are subscribed plus a reasonable audit window, so we can prove consent was obtained if asked.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are processed by server-side code and transmitted to Resend and Beehiiv over encrypted connections. API keys and secrets are stored in a managed secrets vault and never exposed in the browser. We do not run our own user database — the only personal data we hold sits inside Resend (email inbox) and Beehiiv (newsletter list). Access is restricted to the site operator.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you (right of access / SAR).
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data (right to rectification).
- Ask us to delete your data (right to erasure / "right to be forgotten").
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data.
- Object to us using your data on legitimate-interest grounds (right to object).
- Withdraw newsletter consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" at the bottom of any newsletter email, or by emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format (right to data portability).
- Rights relating to automated decision-making — we do not use any automated decision-making or profiling.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@sidehustlesavings.co.uk from the email address you used with us, or write to us at the postal address in section 1, and tell us clearly what you would like us to do. We aim to respond within one calendar month and will not charge a fee unless your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before releasing personal data.
9. Marketing communications
The only marketing communication we send is the weekly newsletter you actively opted into. Every newsletter contains a one-click unsubscribe link. We do not sell your address to any third party and we do not use it to send other marketing.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first and give us the chance to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office:
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF
11. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and content relating to gambling, matched betting or bookmaker offers is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please email us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page and the "last updated" date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated notice.
